The Green Team received a $20,000 grant to update our 2010 Environmental Resource Inventory to 2020 standards. The Environmental Resource Inventory (ERI) is a compilation of text, tables, maps and other visual information about the natural resource characteristics and environmentally significant features of an area. It includes natural resources as well as manmade features to the inventory, such as historic sites, brownfields and contaminated sites. The ERI is an important tool that is part of the municipal master plan. The input of residents of LB is critical to help us identify Long Branch's environmental resources and it is the first step in their protection and preservation and in assuring that future development or redevelopment protects public health, safety and welfare. We will hold a kick-off meeting witn T&M Engineering, the firm hired to update the ERI, on 2/16. We will hold a kick-off meeting witn T&M Engineering, the firm hired to update the ERI, on 2/16. At this meeting, residents will be able to call in, locate on a map of the city, and talk about any environmental issue of concern. Use of open space, redevelopment of lower Broadway, areas of flood, use of pesticides & fertilizers, water quality, solar power in town, composting, and use of electric vehicles and infrastructure are some topics to spark interest. The 2/16 date is to be the beginning of input, NOT a one day thing.
