During the summer months of 2018 the Borough revised the trash collection schedule to twice per week and the recycling pick up schedule to weekly rather than every other week. The weekly recycling schedule was extended through the end of the year but the weekly pick up volume has declined so that the cost benefit is no longer sensible. The question is do we return to every other week pick up in January (if so, vote yes) or does the convenience of weekly recycling pick up still make sense for enough residents to justify the additional expense (if so, vote no)? To date, only a small number of residents are utilizing the additional recycling pickup. The true cost to the Borough using this extra pickup is the wear and tear of the vehicles, which will result in replacing the $260,000 Garbage truck earlier. The Borough does plan to implement the increased summer pick up schedule for both trash and recycling in 2019.
