Homework practices vary among the schools in the district. Some families report very little homework, with few concerns. Others experience homework that seems excessive. Some families report that the quality and quantity of homework being required of their children is impacting the quality of their children's and families' lives. Some children and families are stressed, and do not believe that the homework is actually beneficial to learning.

Montclair Public Schools administration, teachers, students and families would benefit from a district wide policy that is developmentally appropriate, and based upon best practices and research on the effectiveness of homework.
