INITIATIVES, VOTES AND RANKINGS: HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?

The “Ranked” tab only highlights and ranks initiatives with a minimum number of “Yes” votes (currently 5), though every initiative, regardless of number of votes, can be viewed in the “Latest” tab.

Why this rule? Unsupported initiatives are, in most cases, less valuable (or at a minimum, not a priority) for the community.

How Initiatives Are Ranked: By default, initiatives are ranked based on the total number of votes received (both Yes and No). However, you can also sort initiatives based on (1) Most votes for and (2) Most votes against.

Voting Rules: You can only maintain a vote for a total of initiatives at any given time. So, if you have votes submitted for initiatives and you now want to vote for another one, you will need to withdraw a vote from one of your current initiatives to do so.

Why this rule? While there are many great ideas, communities have limited resources so community members need to prioritize which initiatives are most important to them.

Successes: When a ranked initiative’s sponsor declares it successfully completed, such initiative is removed from the “Ranked” tab. Once this happens, you will automatically receive an additional free vote if you still have an active vote for that initiative.

When Can You Comment: You can only comment on an initiative after you vote.

Why this rule? It’s easy for everyone to voice opinions – so we want to give our “bullhorn” to community members that are vested enough in the initiative to allocate their own voting resources to do so.
